At our 6 year anniversary brunch date my hubby surprised me with these gorgeous blooms from a local vendor cart (I had thought he was in the loo) and I absolutely loved them! But after a week in the kitchen table vase, they started to wilt of course. Thus began my flower drying journey.
When you’re ready to start drying your flowers, you need to remove leaves, they can trap in moisture. Simply tie the stems, I did so with twine, and then hang them upside down in a dry and dark spot. Choose a spot away from sunlight to prevent fading. Closets work great, I chose my laundry room wire rack. I used a clothes pin to secure my bundle to a hanger. Leave your flowers upside down for 1-2 weeks until they’re completely dry. Pro tip: a little hairspray when they’re dry can help them to hold their shape.
Now you can enjoy your flowers for far beyond their time in water! I absolutely love walking by mine, now months later, and being reminded of my hubby’s kindness and thoughtfulness on our brunchaversary.
